Description:

The student is introduced to reading time from both analogue and digital clocks. Once the skill of reading clock is consolidated, the student can then move to practising converting digital time to analogue by selecting the hour and minute arm.

Quick and rapid responses through multiple choice set of questions allows the "to" and "past" concept to be fully secured.

The student can then learn to read analogue time in word and is then ready for higher level skill such as, Calculating Time Difference in both 12hr and 24 hr Clock.

All questions are supported through unlimited number of random questions, providing fresh set of questions each time.

Teachers are using the software within many schools once a concept has been taught. This then allows the student to consolidate and practise skills and further provides instant feedback to the teacher of the class performance.

The software is highly robust and versatile where the whole school can be logged onto the system. It allows selection of each class and the students simply click on their names saving classroom log-in time. This allows the students to start working on the skills straight away.

The school can also take a strategic view of the progress of all students and identify groups of students having common areas of challenges.

Age Range: 6-11 Ideal for KS1 and KS2

How to use this software?

Teach the clock concept and priciples and that you wish impart to the students. Use the White-board to and engage the class collectively and then set individual targets. Set a time for each student to have one-three attempts on the particular clock sub module. When the student has completed the task, he/she will know immediately if the teachers expectations have been met by viewing the bar graph.

Get your testing done quickly and identify students with common areas of challanges immediately.

If you can allow a set skill time for students to use the software and practise their skills, the monitoring and recording of their progress is recorded electronically.

At the end of the day, you can view the "All-Users" report and you will immediately see the names and scores of each student. You do not need to sort the data, the software does that for you. You can view the scores by firstname/surname or in ascending order or descending order.

Set new targets, set aside a regular time for testing and see the clock skills competency developing rapidly.

Benefits:

This Integrated Learning System can save the teacher the following time and resources.

1. Marking Time -The questions are randomly generated, marked and gives the teacher more direct classroom time.
2. Rapid assessment feedback, informs both the child and the teacher of the areas of difficulties straight away. You need not send data away for feedback. It is instantaneous! The system manages the learning process, by marking the responses for each unit, provides verbal feedback on performance, bar graph feedback for each student and further gives the teacher an overall summary of the performance of all logged users.
3. Logging Progress - Individual and all logged User progress. These can be printed in various modes and by simply printing individual records the teacher has a summary of the class progress. The teacher does not have to export or import data from other packages.
4. Generating new questions - The system generates random questions and therefore there isn't the need to write out new questions and then photocopy the questions. Save on preparation time, paper and resources.
5. Once Only Log-in of all the users. The Users are transferred year on year by simply changing the teachers code. The teacher does not have to log each student again.

Case Study

What happens at Shenley Primary?
"The JellyJames software has proved a real treat for my class. As soon as I have taught a particular clock concept, the children test their understanding through the software. Once the class has reached a level of competency, the application to the concepts through problems is tackled. The other interesting features to the software is that the software has so many sub-modules all put together in one package. I know of companies that sell each of these modules separately, making the software very expensive for schools. My children like to see the simple easy to read graphs which tells them, how long they took with the questions and their scores. You can guess, they are constantly striving to score as high a mark in minimum time. The random questions offered by the software gives me the comfort of knowing that they are not working on the same questions all the time. At the end of the session, I can print a summary of the class results and print out the scores on graphs for each child. This helps tremendously with my record keeping. The colour used on the software is tidy and clear, making the interface with young children friendly. The verbal feedback is calm and reassuring. My students think JellyJames is very clever at finding out that they haven't attempted any questions. I have used the software with my Year 2's and now with Year 5's, without purchasing new modules. The software covers clock skills expected from Reception to Year 6 competently and takes an in-depth understanding of the teachers requirements in class.
